Lia rolled her eyes as the stupid cheerleaders did a dumb cheer. After nobody got that excited, the cheerleaders finished their routine and walked off the stage. She wondered if everyone else thought the assembly was as stupid as she did. After all, she wasn't going to the homecoming dance, and probably not the football game either, so why bother getting so excited? Next, the dance team came out and did a routine to some obnoxious song that was overplayed on the radio. Lia wondered if she could just get up and leave.

Sophie elbowed him. "Hey, you know I won't really fall asleep! That's your job," she told Landon, laughing, as the dancers finished their performance. Next, the student council president came back out and announced that the homecoming queen and king would be chosen next. Sophie wondered if it would be anyone she knew.

"I've never really like football honestly....but its kinda amusing to see them bash each other about like mindless pigs." He was glad she seemed to be a bit less snippy with him, though in his mind he knew her viper like grumpiness could come back at any moment.

As they were about to announce the homecoming queen, the student council president asked for a drumroll. "And the 2014 Olympic High Homecoming Queen is...." the student council president announced, pausing for dramatic effect, when suddenly a huge boom of thunder came from outside and all the lights went out. Instantly, people started screaming the way they do when the teacher turned the lights off in class. Although it was daytime, there were no windows, so the room was almost completely dark. The student council president tried to yell something, but her microphone wasn't working anymore, so Sophie couldn't understand what the girl was saying. Thunder boomed again, even louder this time. Sophie looked at Landon. "What just happened?" she asked, not sure if he had any more of a clue than she did. Suddenly, pain shot through her head. Sophie had had headaches before, but this wasn't just a regular headache. She groaned, holding her head in her hands.
