I personally happen to love OoT the best out of all the Nintendo games (Legend of Zelda being my favorite series)
Why I like it? Because it's a wonderful world where they have given it a more realistic spin with the graphics. The puzzles tax my brain and force me to think clearly otherwise I get stuck (Which often I do anyway) I enjoy the age difference where you can use different tools on it thanks to the temple of time and all. I also love the character design for Link that they use, especially the 3DS version where they have improved it from the N64 blockier version. (And Gamecube) I also enjoyed sneaking around Gerudo valley a lot, so much fun xD The various tools were fun to use in combination to make various puzzles to work. I enjoyed a lot of the sense of mystery that this game gave off when looking at things. I also thought it was funny that there was a cow in the middle of Death Mountain
Dislikes for this game are short and few, less than I have for Majora's Mask and a couple of the other games. I don't like Navi very much... Maybe it would have been better if she was there for a beginning tutorial, but by the end of it... I was tired of hearing "Hey! Look! Listen! Watch Out!" Personally one the Gamecube version, the Ganondorf (Ganondork) design was horrible. He had green skin for goodness sake! The Gorons were a little annoying but that wasn't that bad. Seeing the ReDeads in Hyrule Town over and over... eventually got on my nerves, especially since the noise hurt my ears so I muted it every time. THE OWL! Oh goodness that owl irritated me worse than anything! He would not shut up and then he kidnapped little Link every time I talked to him near Lake Hylia.

While I have enjoyed observing my younger brother play various Legend of Zelda games, I have never gotten into it. The last strategy/puzzle game I have played on a DS Lite was Pokemon Diamond version.
I have always been a Pokemon fan and I am not sure if that'll change. Though they ought to get more creative with the version names.

The Legend of Zelda series has been my favorite since I was born. Heck, the first game I ever beat was Zelda II on the NES.
For me, personally, the best Zelda game has to be Majora's Mask. It is the darkest entry that openly portrays so many adult themes that it's jarring that this game was made for kids. Abuse, murder, death, depression, everything. Hell, Majora's Mask is the telling of Link in purgatory. It has less annoyances than Ocarina of Time and has a much deeper meaning. OoT is a fantasy storyline about a hero and a princess, with small little things in between. Majora's Mask is a life freaking lesson through-and-through. It is a masterpiece in story-telling (as 99% of it is left up to you to decide on what it's about) and the greatest Zelda game in my opinion. Followed closely by Wind Waker, mind you. Ocarina of Time is an amazing game and deserves the title of "masterpiece", but.. Majora's Mask made me feel emotions. I actually cried when I failed the ranch side-quest. Seeing the girl like that... It didn't feel good. It gives you a true sense of accomplishment when you solved someone's problems. And then the three days... Start all over again.
Now Pokemon.. That's a game that'll capture anyone of any age. I was a big Pokemon player during the Red/Blue/Yellow and Silver/Gold/Crystal eras. But, when the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald copies came out, I didn't grab them. I didn't like the designs at all (even though the Pokemon there are possibly the strongest to date). I got back into Pokemon when Diamond/Pearl/Platinum came out and they were AWESOME! I love Diamond/Pearl. Aaaanndd then Black/White came out and ruined my appetite for Pokemon. Then X/Y came out! X/Y are up there with Silver/Gold for me. I've put so many hours into Y, it isn't even funny. I've nearly completed my doubles team (gotta make it... perfect...) and I still need to catch all... However many Pokemon there are. It's the most accessible entry in the series and a great place to jump back into the franchise.

Majora's Mask was so confusing for me. The three day repeat drove me absolutely bonkers. But the biggest problem I had with Majora's Mask was this... if Link was in purgatory, and yet the Twilight Princess game states that the TP Link is descended from the hero of time, yet the hero of time is in purgatory... It's disturbing to think of Link having children at such a young age is the biggest issue I had... pedophilia? That bothered me the most. But unfortunately for me, Majora's Mask more of irritated me than anything else. It was one of those that was like "GET IT THERE ALREADY!" For me. But it does have it's merits. It was a difficult puzzle all in all. But the most beautiful aspect about it is that Majora's Mask does follow the seven steps of purgatory according to Catholic doctrine (At least to my understanding it does). It was beautifully done though I think it had some inconsistences with the Zelda storyline.
Pokémon.... I haven't ever played except for the Pearl Version. So I know nothing about it but it's pretty addicting I'd have to say... though it was frustrating a bi with the 'don't go here, don't go there' stuff.

The three day repeat is either loved or hated. It can grow a tad annoying, but for me it only added this sense of... True urgency. It was actually scary to look up in the sky every now and again to see the moon... Slowly getting closer... It was breathing down your neck the entire time. But I can understand how it could drive you nuts; it did me the first few times I played it.
Now, with the whole TP Link ordeal, think of it more as a reincarnation of the Hero of Time rather than a great-great-great-great grandson. Same goes for the Zelda character. They're reincarnations. The only reincarnation of Ganon is the original Ganondorf that was sealed in the Temple of Time during the events of Ocarina of Time. Ganondorf is a reincarnation of (spoiler) Demise from Skyward Sword. As we know, Ganondorf escapes and yada yada yada. The game that really threw the Zelda timeline for a loop-de-loop was Ocarina of Time... It creating three separate timelines. Personally, I think the "official" Zelda timeline is completely and utterly wrong. I know it gets Skyward Sword and OoT in the right spots, but... It has so many flaws that I can't call it true. I'll have to post my giant theory of the Zelda timeline on here some day. It'd be quite the read for Zelda fans.
And you should pick up X/Y! They're really great entries to the franchise and a great place to pick it back up. Plus, I need more trading/battling friends!

With all the new versions of Pokemon out there now, is it possible to actually catch them all? Like there has to be like 600+ Pokemon now, right? You'd have to be an extremist, a fanatic with a dedication solely to "catch 'em all". I for one always will build my team in each individual version and that's it. To this day though FireRed will always be my favorite version. 0

I think it broke 700, really. I'd have to check. But, yep. There actually are ways to get them all. The easiest way is to trade, of course. With the way trading is done now makes it fairly easy to get all 700+ (except for Mew until the next Mew event). You don't have to find another person with a game to trade anymore, just put a Pokemon up for trade and ask what you want. You'll get it eventually. I do focus on building my team first then start building a collection of Pokemon to show off. Crystal will always be my favorite entry to the series.

That trade system is news to me. Last I heard, you needed another player present to trade Pokemon. When did that start? That may encourage me to get back into reaching that goal eventually, no matter how many Pokemon are out there. It'll reach 1K Pokemon soon.

The Global Trade Station (GTS for short) started with Diamond and Pearl. It's been tweaked and almost perfected now. There's some outrageous offers on there sometimes. Like, someone offering a level 15 common Pokemon for a legendary. It's silly sometimes, but is mostly very useful. Plus, foreign Pokemon level up faster and are usually overall better for breeding that perfect Pokemon.

I like pokemon, but I love the original, it got old when they started adding ridiculous pokemon to the game and just changing it up. I guess it's still interesting, but I'm more into other stuff :3

I once had two shiny Pokemon in my team, Charizard and Suicune (obviously this was on FireRed). That Global Trade Center is a great idea. I can finally get back to that in due time.

That's one thing you have to hand to Pokemon. They sure know how to compose epic themes, no matter he version!

Pokemon always has a solid OST. Even the chiptune OSTs are great. But, an OST that will stand the test of time for eternity is Chrono Trigger's. Oh my sweet Jesus that soundtrack is phenomenal.

This longish thread personally seems clunky. Nintendo now has a category, and this thread was moved there and locked. Pokemon may be discussed in a new thread. :3
